It doesn’t matter what stage of life you’re in (young, old or somewhere in the middle) your days get busy and time gets away from you. For me when I am crunched for time the FIRST thing that gets bumped is my workout! You know its true! It is so easy to push it off until “tomorrow”! But staying on top of your health and fitness is important.
So we thought we would share one of our favorites apps with you. (new one coming next Wednesday)!
The App:
For you Yoga lovers out there (yes that is me!) we use the App : Down Dog
WE LOVE this app because its something you can take with you wherever you go! Home, Vacation, at the park, you have a workout at your fingertips
This is a Free App. The settings vary from short to full practice, quick flow or Restorative yoga. There are 5 levels from Beginner to Advanced and our favorite part of the app is you can change the Length of time you want your yoga session to be!! Time starts at 25 minutes and goes all the way up to 80 minutes. So if you are short on time you can still get a workout in.
There are more options available if you want to subscribe to the app ($) but the free version of the app is fantastic and super easy to use.
Heather’s thoughts on Yoga
Yoga with kids... Fun and Eeesh all at the same time.
Raelyn (age 6) enjoys doing yoga along side me but other times she just wants to be on top of me or under me. All I have to say to that is to embrace it! You only have so much time with your kids at a young age. Embrace the chaos and just have fun. Working out doesn’t always have to be so serious. Sharing the time and creating memories with your kids are far more important than any workout could ever be.
Yoga is good for the mind, the body and the soul. Cliché I know. But true.
It’s a time in the day where you can just focus on nothing but yourself. Clear your mind and just breathe. If you don’t find small moments like that during the day trust me you will go craaaaaaazy.
Kids, work, school, life, whatever is going on just take a minute, clear your head and breathe. Yoga isn’t about getting the pose just like the picture, or the instructor, or the person next to you. You do what your body is able to do , at your pace. It’s not supposed to be stressful. If you keep trying eventually you will get that stretch just right or that pose perfect. Stretching doesn’t come easy to everyone. If you get everything right with the mind and the body all will be right with the soul.
If you have an app you love to use or a great idea or a tip that you use to save time in your day we would love to hear about it!!
