Hey Y’all! I hope your Monday has been a good one!
Today i want to talk a little bit about excuses that can steal your time and momentum. One of the biggest excuses we tell ourselves is “I don’t have Enough time”. We all say it and I am as guilty as the next person. We say this all the time, but the truth is we have plenty of time, it is how we choose to USE our time that is the problem. I was listening to a podcast the other day and they gave out some crazy statics!
Did you know that on average women spend 8 years of their lives shopping? We spend a year of our lives just deciding what to wear! Men spend one year of their life staring at women! (Outfits are paying off ladies!) the average American spends 5 hours a day watching TV and 5 1/2 years on social media, the average user picks up their phone 1500 times a week!! Just think of all the time spent here!!
So we do have time… we all have the EXACT same amount of time.. All of us have 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week and 365 days in a year. This will never change. Time is limited and it will always stay the same. So time itself isn’t the problem, setting your priorities is the problem. We all know people that have managed to have both successful professional and private lives they do not have more time than we do, they have learned the art of prioritizing.
Our time is precious so we need to realize this and be motivated to use our time on things that are most important to us. I love this saying and i want to share it with you. It made an impact on my life and i hope it does the same for you “if everything is important, then nothing Is important”.
What does this mean.. Simply put EVERYTHING is NOT equally important. When i get overwhelmed I have a tendency to start listing all the things that have to get done in a day. While I am running through this list in my mind EVERYTHING seems important, but the truth is the things on my list are NOT equally important. I had to start prioritizing my lists into what i felt was MOST important, 2nd most important and so on from there. Now when two things on my list compete for my time I will know exactly which one wins. The one with the highest priority.
I challenge you for the remainder of the week to be aware of how you are spending your time. keep track of your time on social media, when you are watching TV, playing with your kids, working etc.
Once your make an intentional effort to see where your time goes each day, that will motivate you to make some changes. I know It did for me and realizing that I had areas that were absolute time suckers helped me to make changes. I realized I DID have time to commit to starting my own business. It will be one year next month since we started Barn Door Boutique GA. (YAY) It has not always been full of rainbows and unicorns, but we are making strides everyday! We have goals to accomplish for this next year and I will not make an excuses I will choose to tell myself that I CAN and I WILL meet those goals.
What is something that you would love to do? Maybe start a side business, take a vacation to some exotic country or maybe just find time In your day to finish that book you started? Take the challenge this week and set your priorities.
